I injured my knee during in June 1992 during a Sun's Men Soccer Team regular season match. The misfortune occured at Mise Park* when I ran full speed to shoot at goal and planted my right foot into a 6 inch deep gopher hole. My ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) must have ruptured instantaneously because there was a cracking sound and I couldn't stand for the next 3 days. I tried operating on 3 ligaments for a few months but it wasn't very stable. My touchdown production at flag football halved and I resolved to get it fixed.
I saw Dr. Gary Fanton of Dillingham, Fanton & Associates who also operate on the 49ers . I had the initial ACL reconstruction in October '92 and a cleanup scoping operation in December '92. All is well now, arthiritis later. If I ever get time, I'll put the nice gory pictures here.
